Nearly everything on the menu at this casual pub is vegetarian or vegan! And they're steps from the beach! Why am I not there right now?! Their menu changes seasonally but always includes several vegan options, like a curry and a noodle bowl. Plus, some of the vegetarian options can be made vegan fairly easily.
Azul Mexicano,

Azul Mexicano is a Mexican restaurant on Maybank Highway. It is the same as the Azul in Park Circle, North Charleston. Their menu includes a vegetarian section with veggie fajitas, tofu tacos al pastor, portabello tacos , and a veggie soup. In addition, they offer an Azul Bowl that can be made with veggies and a few salads. With all menu items, ask for no cheese or sour cream. Azul Mexicano is owned by the same restaurant group as Agaves Cantina and Los Altos.
Beech-

Beech is a casual restaurant/juice bar on James Island. It features acai bowls, poke bowls and cold-pressed juices. For vegans, sub agave for honey in the acai bowl. For the poke bowls, you can start with tofu or pickled shiitake mushrooms, add a base of rice, zucchini noodles or kale salad and add a variety of toppings. Beech also offers hummus wraps, bagels, avocado toast and smoothies. So many options!
Coastal Crust-
979 Harbor View Road,
James Island
Coastal Crust offers vegan cheese for their delicious wood-fired pizzas. There are also a few salads (need to order without animal products) and an olive appetizer. Most other items on the menu include dairy or other animal products. Coastal Crust also has a locations in Mt Pleasant and on the Isle of Palms, but the menus may differ.
Huriyali-

Huriyali Gardens is a casual restaurant offering amazing fresh juices, smoothie bowls, sandwiches and salads. Most items on the menu can be made vegan and much of the produce is organic and locally-sourced. And they have a gorgeous outdoor patio for dining al fresco. According to their website, Huriyali means green vibrance, so check them out for some good green vibes!
Lost Dog Cafe-
106 W. Huron Ave, Folly Beach
You have to be a little creative to eat vegan at this cafe, but it is so cute it is worth a visit. The walls are covered in photos of dogs and your four-legged friend is welcome to dine with you outside. They even offer dog treats. The tasty thai wrap and the "bob barker" wrap are vegan if you omit the wrap. (They only have cheddar jalapeno wraps). They also offer sides of home fries, fresh fruit and bagels. Additionally there are many vegetarian items for offer if you are not completely vegan.
Mondo's Italian Restaurant-
915 Folly Rd, James Island
This casual Italian restaurant has a few pasta dishes that can be made vegan if you request no cheese. The Pomodoro sauce is vegan and the Garlic and Oil sauce can be made without chicken broth. You also have the option of adding grilled asparagus or portobello mushroom to any pasta. They also have a garden salad. And they have a lovely outdoor patio space. A great choice for a night out!
Taco Boy-

This funky, casual Mexican joint offers a vegan chorizo taco, a tempura avocado taco, jackfruit carnitas, and black beans can easily be added to other menu options to veganize them. They also offer a veggie rice bowl and a taco salad. For all items, ask for no cheese or sour cream. Some of their flour tortillas contain lard, so ask for a vegan-friendly tortilla. Their guacamole is tasty and their pineapple-infused margaritas are delish! Makes for a great day at the beach!
Thai Elephants-915 Folly Road, James Island
Thai Elephants is a Thai restaurant off of Folly Road on James Island. A few menu items can be made vegan, like the Pad Thai, Fresh Rolls and some fried rice dishes. None of the curries can be made vegan, unfortunately. They also have a sushi menu with several veggie sushi options.
